Annamite Resources has recently conducted an extensive review of drill core, surface geology and existing geophysical and geochemical data. Three surface and near-surface targets have emerged which in aggregate could contain 1-1.5 Moz of gold (plus silver and base metals). These could rapidly be taken through exploration, resource estimation and conceptual study and on to exploitation within a three year time frame. The three large scale porphyry targets will require deep pockets and much longer time frames to explore and bring to account.
The Sokdee and Vangma Projects are located about 75 km northwest of Vientiane and 25km southwest of a new high-speed railway line and highway connecting Vientiane and China. Water and hydroelectric power are abundant. This rural location primarily consists of low density rubber plantations and with no villages in the Sokdee tenement. Annamite has a field base in Navay village. Our expatriate chief exploration geologist leads the team comprisinga senior geologist, three experienced geotechnicians, administrative and community liaison officers.
Initial Exploration Assessment at Sokdee: New Drilling Campaign Planned
The initial exploration assessment shows the presence of Cu-Au-Mo porphyry centres and peripheral Au-Ag-Zn targets with six overall targets identified by Annamite. A third RC and DD drilling campaign to start in November to test the gold deposits for resource estimate and better understand the Cu-Au-Mo porphyry system. Unlocking New Potential in the Sokdee Region
A regional soil sampling campaign took in the new additional area of 43 sq.km provisionally granted to LHBS by the Government. Rio Tinto made the decision not to continue to be involved with LHBS. Cost-effective operations with land access negotiations with landowners or tenants included establishing a Provincial Committee for land compensation and community development. A 7,000m drilling program was designed to confirm gold and copper targets
Annamite & Rio Tinto Partnership Expands Sokdee Exploration
In July 2023 Annamite & Rio Tinto joined forces to explore the Sokdee Project, with Annamite carrying out the current phase of the exploration programme and Rio funding the exploration. Second exploration campaign included a new IP surveys at Namthom and Mouk targets ahead of more drilling, which included four DD holes totaling 1,496m into the exciting Mouk target as well as one hole south of Namthom.
